when cell phone cameras were first introduced, i was not impressed or amused.
i was a photo purist... black & white film, printed in a traditional darkroom.
since then, i have loosened up a bit. i still don't own a fancy pants digital slr, but i see the value in digital.
last summer the nytimes lens blog sponsored a reader cell phone photo competition.
for me the results were surprising. pros and amateurs alike submitted beautiful images.
since then, apple and other phone manufacturers have improved their cell phone cameras
and software companies have been churning out programs/apps to make a good pic
a really cool photograph!
embracing the potential & beauty of the cell phone photo, i use my iphone as a means of sketching out photographic ideas before committing that image to film. (film is expensive!)
i figured that i probably wasn't the only one doing this, so i contacted friends, students & colleagues requesting their participation in yet another, sarah baron photo experiment.
the results are below... nearly 80 cell phone images supplied by something like 50 different people!!
i think its pretty darned cool! enjoy!
